Yesterday was our first Appliqué meeting for the year. After breaking up early December and not meeting in January, it was lovely to be back at the hall, catching up with everyone and seeing lovely projects in work.
Show and tell is always a highlight of the day. Dellas has just completed this bright, cheery quilt with fabrics from Lori Holt.
Lyn has complete a sweet Maggie Grace's Garden (pattern by Di Ford)
Frances has been making this gorgeous baby quilt for a new grandchild who is due this week. With just the binding to go Frances has made it in time.
And Carolyn has completed 'Magic Eye' (pattern by Emma Newman). Carolyn decided she would hand quilt this one, have never hand quilted before. It is magnificent.
Being a member of appliqué group, means committing to a challenge each year....I am quite a bossy group leader. There are always moans of resistance when the challenge is mention, but everyone is brave and makes a commitment. Usually we have check-ins along the way, and as people complete their challenges they are ticked off the list. This year I have decided to change it a little. Yesterday each member was presented with a card onto which they had to write their challenge. This was placed in an envelope and sealed. At our December meeting we will open the envelopes and hopefully there is a completed project to match the challenge. It should be a fun meeting.
It has also been back to school for my kids. This the year I am down to two.
I asked them to replicate the photo I took 10 years ago, back in 2010. Oh what a difference ten years can make. Back then I decided when the kids got haircuts, I packed their lunch boxes and they wore what I laid out. Now I have very little say, but I certainly don't miss making those 5 lunches boxes up each day.
Keep on stitching. x
