Last weekend I attended the Australasian Quilt Convention (AQC). Having done this event in 2013, I thought that I would be a little more organized. I have realized with an event like this, I will never be organized. There is always one last thing you feel needs doing, one last bundle you can wrap up, one last item you can squeeze in. I should just remember to take more photos so I can share the madness after everything has settled.
I set off from home at 9.30am Wednesday morning, car and trailer loaded, waving goodbye to the kids and DH..... five days without me, how would they go??? After picking up my dear friend Jane, we headed east to the big smoke of Melbourne.
In rain we quickly unloaded all the 'stuff', dumping it at our stand, number 45, which was right beside Linda of Gum Valley Patchwork.
It took a little time and some re-shuffling, but eventually our stand looked like this.
I was delighted to be able to launch two new patterns from Irene Blanck.
Greenacres (a crib size quilt).
And more delighted to have Irene work alongside me for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
It was a fantastic event, and a great opportunity to meet some of my amazing customers face to face. It was also great to be able to show my finished version of Gossip in the Garden, having just completed the binding on Tuesday night.
The pack up on Sunday evening was much quicker than the set up, although the stress level was blown through the ceiling when I thought Gossip in the Garden had been stolen. How embarrassing (but relieved) to find it neatly packed away in the trailer! It was a wonderful, but quite exhausting five days away, but I will be doing it all again next year; both Linda and I have rebooked our same stands for 2015.
PS. Have a great Easter, I hope you are blessed with lots of stitching time.
