I hate to mention it but Christmas really is coming quickly with just a little over 4 weeks to go. I thought I would show you some great gift giving ideas in case you are having trouble deciding what to buy your quilt making friends.
New to the shop are these numbered pins.
They come in a sturdy double sided boxed, with 10 pins of each number. You can purchase them numbered 1-10
These are great for when you are sewing blocks together into rows, or rows together into a quilt top. Priced at $14.95 they make a lovely gift that I am sure will be well used.
For people who are on a journey of English Paper Piecing, a Rotary Cutting Mat is a great gift. The mat measures 10 inches across, and is a perfect size for cutting multiple edge shapes such as hexagons and pentagons. You can cut two-three sides, rotate the mat and continue cutting the remaining sides. The smaller size keeps the fabric close and enables a stable cutting surface.
Another useful tool for English Paper Piecing is the Fussy Cutting Mirror. This mirror allows you to audition fabric, seeing what designs you can achieve before you cut into your special fabric. Priced at $19.80 these are another great option.
The other tools I can't live without are my Perfect Scissors. The beauty of these scissors is the fine serrated edge, ensuring fabric stays still so you are able to cut exactly the area you desire. The hardest decision is what size to choose, as each size has great benefits. If in doubt I suggest the medium, light blue set. The handles are big and soft, so no problems for those with arthritic fingers and the blade is small enough to maintain great precision.
And then there is fabric. I keep a great assortment of bundled fabric, and it is no trouble to make a bundle specific to your needs of colour or price. Please don't hesitate to call me for a custom selection.
If you would like a selection of colours, Colour Cubes are always great. These cubes contain nine different prints which measure 6 inches x half the width of fabric (approximately 21 inches). They are great for people who are making Dear Jane or The Farmers Wife quilts or for appliqué lovers. Priced at $20.00 per box, they make a great gift.
And everyone loves a great book. At the moment I have a lovely selection of books for making small quilts and also large scrappy quilts.
And finally, I have a small number of the new Di Ford-Hall Aurifil thread sets.
And if you are still undecided, I do offer Gift Vouchers, which even include machine quilting.
Remember you can have a parcel sent directly to the recipient of your gift, just enter your friends address in the shipping address section upon checking out. And if you place a note in the comments section, I will even gift wrap the item for you and include a card.
Happy Stitching, Lenora.
