This weekend just past was the annual Australian Quilt Market, the wholesale event of the year, where retailers can view the latest products, fabrics and patterns. I am lucky that it is relatively close to me, only a three hour drive, not the plane trip that other's take, travelling from all over Australia and New Zealand.
It was a great market. I am not sure if I was looking at it with fresh eyes, this is the first year I have attended with a bricks and mortar store, or whether the designers have just had a really great year working with the fabulous fabrics that are on the market. It was certainly easy to find what I was looking for
Here is some of what I was able to bring home with me.
Stitchery patterns by the lovely Anni Down's of Hatched and Patched
Along with two of her small project books. These books are great value as you get lots of little projects to make, with the stitchery patterns then forming a quilt pattern.
Natalie Bird, also had some great stitchery and small project books, with more arriving soon.
There are some Christmas themed patterns.
And new fabrics which will arrive next year, including the whole range of this beauty, Ladies Album by Barbara Brackman.
Whilst at Hatched and Patched, I was particularly taken with Anni's lovely new BOM quilt, Gossip in the Garden. (please check it out on Anni's blog)
I have been putting a lot of thoughts into my program for next year, and a block of the month quilt was not on the agenda. But somehow this quilt has crept underneath my skin and totally invaded all my thoughts. I think it is the mixture of gardening and cups of tea! So I have succumbed and signed up for this program which will begin early next year. It really is a fun quilt and I am sure you will enjoy it too.
It is going to be quite a warm day here, perfect for hay making. Dad is replacing me in the tractor seat, so I can set about rearranging the shop, getting it ready for Christmas. Should be a fun day!
