Probably the most exciting part of setting up Elm Grove Patchwork, is the opportunity to stock fabrics which I absolutely love, and love designing with.
I have always had a love of Liberty fabric. (The first money I ever earnt was spent on fabric to make a Liberty dress.....it still hangs in my wardrobe.... though its way expired the fashion of today lol!). I do agree it is more expensive than other fabrics, but the quality does exceeds others. I believe for the hours we invest in our projects, we should use good quality materials and ones which we absolutely love.
When I heard that Liberty were creating a whole new line of fabrics, specifically designed for patchwork and crafting, I was really excited. This new line is called the Liberty Lifestyle Collection. It is the same weight and thread count of other patchwork fabrics. The first range has already been released. It is called 'Bloomsbury Garden'. I have been really lucky, and able to obtain a few bolts from this collection.
The colours are absolutey gorgeous! So bright and vivid. I can see great bags and bag linings, small projects like needle cases, and wonderful applique, and small pieced quilts.
At AQM last weekend, I was able to touch and feel the next range, it is called the 'Stile Collection'. It will not be realeased until March - April next year, but I could not help myself, I have ordered another twelve bolts.
They compliment the first range beautifully.
If you are interested, I have some fat 1/4 and fat 1/8 bundles of Bloomsbury Garden, or meterage. It retails for $28.00/m. It is quite special and I am sure you will not be disappointed when you see it.
